SPF, which is an abbreviation for Sender Policy Framework, is a certification system that aims at protecting against the so-called email faking. In simple terms, this indicates sending a message from one email address and making it look like it’s sent from another one with the idea to scam in some manner the individual receiving it. If the SPF protection is active for a domain name, a record that includes all mail servers authorized to email messages with addresses under the domain is generated. The record is stored on all DNS servers that direct the web traffic around the world, thus they all can recognize whether an email message comes from a legitimate server or not. The check is performed at the first server where the e-mail goes through and in the first case the message is forwarded, but in the second it is discarded and it never gets to the supposed recipient. When you host your domains in a shared hosting account with us and we manage the e-mails for them, you will be able to activate SPF protection for all of them with a couple of clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. The service is available in a separate section where you're able to see which domains are currently secured. For the ones that are not, you will be able to enable the SPF protection option and manage a lot of things during the process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are allowed to send messages from your addresses, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of these servers, and to create a rule that email messages can be sent only when your domains include our MX records. The last solution is the most secure one, and it can be used if we manage the emails for your domain names and you are not using a different email service provider. The newly created records will be activated within 1 day and nobody will be able to forge the FROM field in an e-mail with your addresses.

The SPF protection function comes with all semi-dedicated plans, so if you host your domains in an account on our cloud website hosting platform, you can use this service with ease for any of your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with the semi-dedicated accounts, features a quite easy to use interface, therefore you won't need to be proficient in the use of computers to secure your email addresses. You will simply have to type the hostname and the IP of each mail server that you'd like to be allowed to send out emails from your addresses and shortly after that the updated record will be activated for the domain that you have picked. As an extra option, we'll also give you the ability to control the outgoing e-mail messages and secure your mailboxes even further by allowing e-mail messages to be sent only when the domain name involved includes our MX records i.e. the e-mail messages for the domain name have to be managed here and not by some other supplier.
